Month 3: Dear Bennett,

Oh my big (little) boy. How are you already 3 months old? And even more so than that, how are you actually 4 months old as I'm writing this? I want to stay stop growing, stop growing, STOP GROWING but if history is any indication I know that those efforts are futile. If kids teach you anything it's that time marches on just way too fast.

Pictures:

My happy boy at 3 months.

Month 1 (top left), Month 2 (bottom left) and THREE (right)!

Big brother of course had to be part of the action.

And as compared to Owen at 3 months. I don't usually see the similarities in the two of you but when I put your pictures side by side, I definitely do.

We did a lot of things this month... including one of our favorite- hiking together as a family. Of course, this included just some walks around our neighborhood, but we are breaking you in slowly to this thing we love. Now if only mama's stupid foot would start to cooperate... I developed a little neuroma in my foot as a result of my pregnancy with you. You are SO worth it, but man, I would rather give birth every day than deal with this dang thing! Ouch!

We also spent a lot of time at the gym. Did you expect anything less?

Including "helping" clients with their planks. 14 extra pounds? Why not? Strengthen that core!

We also had your 8 week checkup a little late (at 10 weeks), so you got to pose your naked booty for Dr. Kelly. You didn't seem to mind one bit.

You also got to visit who will become another one of your favorites in a short while- Miss Collette. She already loves you and can't wait to see more of you!

Month 3 also brought along your first Halloween. You were a little unimpressed by the holiday this time around, but it was still cute to garb you out in all of the Halloween-y stuff.

You were VERY unhappy the night we took Owen (and you) trick or treating the first time. You were big brother's companion dalmation and you were NOT happy about it.

But, you calmed down as soon as we hit the road for trick or treating. (NOTE: I was actually not injured but my costume was that of an injured skier... Another note: if I ever decide to ski in real life during your childhood, this image will probably become a reality and not a costume. Let's hope to god you get your poppy's ski skills and not your mama's).

It also started to get cold outside so you got to wear the warm jumper that all three of your older brothers have worn. Too cute.

We also took your brother Oe to his buddy Griffin's 2 year birthday party. You got to meet a whole crowd of people who will one day be some of your BFF's, no doubt.

We also took Owen to the science center, so of course you got to go too. Once again, you weren't all that impressed, but hey, you were there!

Bailey came to visit this month as well. If you are anything like Owen, in a short amount of time you are going to obsessed with BAAAAI.

Of course, we also spent some time playing with your cousins, including Dylan, your cousin who is 2 months older than you but who you have already outpaced growth wise. She's a little peanut and you are HUGE. It's pretty cute to see you two together. I have a feeling you two are going to be two peas in a pod growing up.

You oldest brother, Oliver, also won a big grant this month so we took you, Owen, Oliver and two of his friends out to dinner to celebrate. You were very well behaved and we all had a great time.

You continued to sleep like a champ this month. I just keep saying I earned you as a sleeper since I didn't sleep for the first two years of your brother's life. Whatever the case, THANK YOU.

You've also continued to charm us all with your emerging personality. Your quite the laid back little guy and really seem pretty mellow.

You also found your fingers this month and didn't let an opportunity pass to try to get them to your mouth. By the end of the month, you were pretty good at finding your mouth but we had a lot of misses at the beginning.

You've also really perfected your smile. It is probably one of the best things ever. Your whole face lights up and at that point our hearts melt.

Of course you aren't ALWAYS happy. It's pretty rare but you do cry. And what happens when you do? Your mom documents the moment. Of course!

We had lots of cuddles this month, which I love more than anything. You love to be held and we oblige you. I know there will come a day when you won't want this and we'll follow your lead then, too, but for now, we'll relish in the time that you want to be close to us in this way.

You've also started to recognize who people are. You absolutely light up with any of your brothers.

I think you are going to love playing with your brother Owen, but I also think that he scares you a little bit right now.

He is so excited to share with you all of the things that he loves, including his bath.

He's also excited to give you loves, which is a vast improvement over throwing trucks at your head (although there is of course still some of that).

I really think that you are going to be the best of buds some day.

One night, Owen wouldn't let anyone sit beside him when going to bed except for you. I have a feeling that this is not the first time that you two will be one against mama and poppy.

You've continued to integrate yourself in to your life in this 3rd month of yours. We've developed in to a new form of our family and now couldn't imagine it without you in it. And luckily, we are not too sleep deprived to realize how lucky we are and how much we cherish you.

You make us smile daily and you complete places in our lives and hearts that we didn't know were empty before you were there. We can't wait to continue to make more memories with you and to watch you grow and grow and grow, and to see what we do as a family together.

Love,
Mama
