Paradise 2012, day #1.

So, I mentioned in an earlier post that we made it to Maui again this year. It was a bit of a pre-baby getaway plus a 30th birthday celebration for me.

It all started out on the morning of April 26, 2012 when we left beautiful Seattle. Ha. Ha. Haha.

After a long 6 hour flight (aka: misery for the preggo lady which ended in swollen ankles), we arrived. Ahhhh. It felt so good to be there... in warmth, sun, and without stress. We got our jeep, took the top off and promptly headed to our favorite natural foods store to get some foods for a picnic by the beach.

A bit later we got to our condo, changed clothes and headed out for a walk. It was gorgeous. I can't even explain how awesome it is to bask in the sun after being in rain and cold for so long (and truly, Seattle has had a pretty decent winter but in my mind nothing beats 80 degrees and totally sunny).

A view of the coast on our walk. I seriously love the ocean. When I'm in labor and need to relax, I will picture being here, I can almost guarantee it.

More shots of palm trees and tropics. Love.

After walking around and getting sufficiently sweaty and more sun than we've gotten in, oh, 8 months, we decided to head out to dinner. We wanted something fairly low key but not totally resort-like (we stay in Wailea by all of the resorts so the resorts are always an easy option). We settled on a natural restaurant that got rave reviews (above is Justin driving to it).

The restaurant is called Monkeypod and it prides itself on making dishes with all local ingredients. It was super cute with live music and great service. Plus, we still had an amazing view of the ocean.

We started off with amazing pesto, spinach butternut squash raviolis... and Justin had a glass of wine (a northwest wine, actually). AMAZING. I then was in a mild food coma so stopped taking pictures but it was SO good. I would have eaten there every day and would have been totally happy about it.

At the end of the night? This. Does it get much better?
