Daily Owen: 11.30.2013

Owen slept through the night last night (a major miracle!), then took a 3 hour and 15 minute nap, THEN fell asleep on our hike today. I think this is what is called "growth spurt." (My face in this picture is called "he's seriously sleeping again?!")

Daily Owen: 11.29.2013

Owen took his shoes and socks off in the car today and thought it would be hilarious to blow bubbles on his feet. Goofball!

Daily Owen: 11.28.2013

The thanksgiving edition.

Started out the day when poppy took O and let Mama sleep in. Lazy pancake morning followed, then mama went on a quick run during naptime. When O woke up, we all went for a family hike then headed over to the Stone family's house (Owen's amazing nanny, who had become an extension of our family). We had thanksgiving dinner there with 30 other people and now, several hours later, made it home. We are full- of food, love, friendship, abundance. Sleeping babe in my arms and reflecting on how truly thankful I am...thinking of all my family and friends near and far, and really feeling blessed. Happy thanksgiving!

Daily Owen: 11.27.2013

Brotherly love. We got an early thanksgiving surprise when biggest brother Bailey showed up to be with us for the holiday. We miss Oliver who went to his moms house, but Oeo is loving on Bai....especially because B's phone has photos of dogs on it!

Daily Owen: 11.26.2013

In case Owen ever decides to go goth, here's our preview in the form of blueberry lipstick.

Daily Owen: 11.25.2013

Still battling the cold that never seems to end over here, but O seems pretty happy regardless playing with his cookie sheets.

Daily Owen: 11.23.2013

Family walk today exploring more trails right by our house. So fun! And it is no joke to carry the turtle, what a great workout!

Daily Owen: 11.22.2013

Grandma sent mom a box today of pillows and Owen in turn got a fort!

Note: Owen's hair. Mama decided to cut the mop herself this morning on a wild whim. Actually turned out halfway decent and was all good until Owen decided to slip and fall into the sink (mom was holding him on the counter). A little boom and bruise on the old noggin, a few tears, a change of diaper and pee all over mama and we had a laughing babe again!

Daily Owen: 11.21.2013

Ochee and Mama playing after work. O was SO excited. He's also wearing his name tag he got from going to the kids library reading time this morning with Miss Collette. He was pretty proud of that, too.

Baby in a pot! Baby in a pot!
(Stunt done all by Owen).

Daily Owen: 11.19.2013

This photo is actually from 11.18 and is actually courtesy of Justin but oh well. Mom sort of failed on the whole picture thing today and it was a sentimental day, too! Owen's 15 month birthday and the day that marks a year since my grandma passed. Both were on my mind all day and the picture below captures our big boy at 15 months (almost) and playing in the rain!

Daily Owen: 11.18.2013

One of Owen's favorite things to do right now (oddly enough) is to carry around a picture frame of his brothers. It's pretty adorable. (Sorry for the blurry shots...dude does not.stand.still...)

Daily Owen: 11.17.2013

Walking today on trails right in our backyard on a rainy, soggy Sunday. Owen was beyond thrilled to be out of his stroller. On a side note: it's uncle Jon's birthday! Happiest birthday to him!

Daily Owen: 11.16.2013

I am thinking maybe this blog should now be titled "Owen" instead of "Jenn." Perhaps a late revelation but I keep thinking I will blog more than just the daily Owen posts. Sigh. (Overly optimistic mom).

Today we went shopping at Lowes and took brother Oliver to get a couple new pairs of clothes. Owen insisted on walking all over Lowes by himself and around pac sun himself...at one point he crawled under Oliver's changing room door. And he insisted doing all this BY HIMSELF and was only happy when walking. Oy. Little turtle.

His shirt says "feed the bears"...as he's walking around with a vat of honey. Yup, that's our kid.

Daily Owen: 11.14.2013

Expressing adequately how mama feels. Mama has the same blasted snot, sore throat, fever and overall yuck. No bueno.

In reality, he's just mad because he wasn't getting his way.

(And saying a huge thank you to all the veterans that served out there, including grandpa!)

Daily Owen: 11.5.2013

I am glad the little man looks so peaceful. After about ten long days (and nights) of hell, we should be in the clear (fingers crossed). The last six teeth before two year molars are in, and we went to the doctor today to make sure the old ears were ok.

Oh yeah. The ear thing.

So.

When we were east of the mountains last weekend we literally had the worst night we've ever had with Ochee (nickname # 452). It was god awful. I made the comment to Justin that I thought it was his ear. Justin thought it was his six teeth and we would just watch it. I figured I was overreacting and he might be right.

The next day-still rough. I called our doctors emergency pager and told her what had been going on and that I thought his ear might have ruptured. I told her to call back if she thought there was an issue. No call back. So, I figured I was overreacting and she was right.

Fast forward to doctor appointment today....

Lesson learned: mama is ALWAYS right and next time I need to listen better to my damn intuition!

Owens ear did in fact rupture. Nothing we can do now, his hearing will be fine and we may not have been able to prevent it but that plus the six teeth? He really knows how to throw a party (poor guy).

Hoping we are well on our way to feeling better. And I am just going to refrain from publicly and blatantly saying "I told you so" to my dear husband and doctor.

Daily Owen: 11.2.2013

Our day: up at 4.30 after not sleeping all night while away in Wenatchee. Owen's teeth plus new place = disaster. We were up every 20-40 minutes from 8.30pm to midnight at which point I pulled Owen on to me and he finally crashed around 1, thus giving us a few solid hours sleep. Solid being used loosely as sleeping with a 30 pound gangly one year old does not ever mean "sound" sleep, a fact I can now testify to. It does, however, make for some interesting sleeping positions which might be more funny if I weren't already so delirious and sleep deprived.... Or "sheep deprived" as I wrote in a text to my girlfriend earlier as I described the last night and last couple weeks of "sheep deprived hell." Sleep, sheep...all the same? Anyway. I'm rambling. Also evidence I need sleep. Moving on:

After our god awful wake up time subsequent to our horrific night, we went to the pool. At 6.30am! Why not?! Justin and Owen spent a lot of time kicking in the hot tub as the actual pool was a little chilly.

At around 8.30 we decided to head for breakfast at Wild Huckleberry- an amazing little joint, not solely because the pancakes there are definitely in my top 3 best ever and not just because they are bigger than my head. And you get two. Well. Upon getting in the truck, Owen fell asleep .00000001 seconds after we strapped him in. Of course! So breakfast waited a little bit while we all hung in the truck while Owen snoozed. Eventually we made it to breakfast and it was amazing as always. I got my fill of pancakes and some leftover for the freezer. Mmm.

After breakfast, we decided to just head home as there was no way we were going to hike- both because we were exhausted and because there was a huge rain/wind storm going through the passes we wanted to beat. Once again Owen promptly fell asleep and slept pretty much the whole way home- even when we almost did a 360 in the truck from the wind- yikes!

We got home to some wind damage- mostly trees and branches down but we still had power! Justin decided to work on the house while Owen and I went shopping. While heading home from shopping, Owen crashed for nap #3 on the day (!!!) and I took the extreme long way home to let him sleep. He was fussy tonight but he helped me make chili and corn bread for dinner. Now, he is crashed and we are thinking of doing all sorts of jigs and rain dances and prayers that we all get a better nights sleep tonight.

Daily Owen: 11.1.2013

First of November. How?

We headed east of the mountains for a quick trip for a friends birthday. Owen loved walking around Leavenworth and playing with leaves.
