Mainly because that's all there is on the news and, of course, because it became all too personal a week or so ago. Apparently snoqualmie pass has gotten 12 feet of snow in the past few days? Crazy. Hearing the word avalanche tossed around like its an every day, normal thing just seems weird to me.
From the WSDOT this morning: Compact snow and ice on roadway. Drivers should be prepared for travel in extreme winter weather conditions. If the severe weather continues as forecast, WSDOT will perform intermittent avalanche-control as needed. Advance notification will be provided for planned avalanche control work. // Snowing, blowing snow and poor visibility
