I cannot believe that it is 8:15 p.m. and I have a) gotten home b) eaten c) taken off my work clothes d) not plugged in my laptop to work more e) Taken off my makeup. Amazing day.
I kind of sort of think Valentine's day is a bit cheesy. I mean shouldn't everyone show the people they love that they love them everyday? It used to be my favorite holiday. My mom would always get us awesome presents and make us all kinds of goodies... she still in fact gets us presents. We received ours just the other day... But it seems almost like Valentine's day in past years is more of an obligation, an explosion of commercialism. Everyone advertises it so that every one feels obligated to be romantic, when really, shouldn't it be more of just a gentle reminder to spend time with your loved ones or tell them you love them? Ahh...I don't know. It's an ok day I guess but in reality, I'd much rather be surprised with a small present or flowers or a night out on a random day of the year than a day when that's what you HAVE to do. I still like the general day of love concept though.
I've been pretty busy lately... as in I leave the house at 7 a.m., get home at 8 p.m. And work 6 hours on Saturdays. At least I like what I do. But I have to say it's getting pretty exhausting and it's only February!
Some highlights as of late are:
-Tim DID surprised me with a valentine's day present. He gave it to me early before our pre-Valentines day dinner on Saturday (although he broke our pact...usually we just go out to dinner and do the cards thing...no presents...not that I'm complaining). Anyway, he bought me an ipod. I know, we are like 3 years behind the times but it's awesome anyway. Can't believe we've been without one for this long!
-I surprised Tim today with Billy Joel tickets (I couldn't just be the recipient of a present!) and a taco dinner (his favorite).
-Our friends are coming into town for spring training...yea for visitors! Too bad it's still busy season at the time of the visit...
-One audit of the year is finished. I managed to make a lot, A LOT of rookie mistakes but I feel like I learned a lot and I met a really famous person which was cool.
-I love the Olympics.
-Tax refund. Sweet!
-The weather. Holy crap it's awesome here.
I can't think of anything else...except for the million and two things I have to do since I'm not working tonight, including 1) managing money, balancing checkbook, paying bills 2) responding to emails that I've had for two months 3) sending stuff to people that I meant to send three months ago 4) laundry 5) dishes 6) Three words: disgustingly dirty house.
Actually, none of that will probably happen. In reality, I'm going to pretend to do that and really post on my blog, then I'm going to go eat ice cream with Tim and then spend the rest of the night with him... and sleep, yes sleep. I totally need to sleep.
Anyway, I hope everyone else has an awesome Valentine's day! Enjoy the day of love...
